WEEK OF 5/21/2008

Congratulations to Billy Lee from Lackawanna Trail Middle School. Billy recently slugged his first official Little League homer. A three-run shot that cleared the billboards!!!

WEEK OF 4/27/2008

COLLEGE BASEBALL

Drew Rossi collected two hits & scored two runs in Lackawanna College’s first Region 19  tournament win against Delaware Tech CC.

BOYS HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL

Stephen Arcure fanned 12 during his six-hitter in defeating Honesdale, 5-4.

Alex Steve had three hits and Tony Trovato contributed two hits, for the Lions, in a 6-2 loss to Carbondale.

 GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL

At Scranton, Ashley Dommes singled home a pair of runs for West in a five-run first and Melissa Brodt doubled, in a 5-3 win.

Brooke Ruane drove in two runs  for Prep in a 7-5 loss to Honesdale.


WEEK OF 4/20/2008

COLLEGE BASEBALL


Lackawanna College advanced to the next round of the NJCAA Region 19 playoffs with a sweep of the first 2 games of the best-of-three series against the County College of Morris.

BOYS HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL

Stephen Sunday drilled 4 hits at Honesdale as West Scranton overcame an early 2-run deficit to keep its share of the LL Division I lead.

Stephen Arcure struck out 10 in 5 innings as Scranton Prep defeated North Pocono.

Chris Pollick produced a 3-hit game recently for Wyoming Valley West, and hitting .368 with 4 homeruns which is leading the league.

Tom Schroeder singled and came around to score on an error, in a 4th inning rally  as the Invaders defeated Wallenpaupack, 3-2.

Max Mueller had an RBI triple in the first and finished with two RBIs in a 4-2 win against North Pocono. Mueller also had 3 RBI in another contest vs. Abington.

At Forest City, Tony Trovato and Keith Miller each had two hits and two RBIs to lead the Lions. Frank Schubert also contributed two hits.

Frank Schubert had two hits to lead Lackawanna Trail in a recent loss to Montrose.

West Scranton grabbed a 6-2 win over Scranton Prep, while Josh Schroeder drove in runs for West, & Stephen Arcure homered Prep.

GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL:

Alex Perry had two hits for West Scranton in a win against Wallenpaupack.

Ashley Dommes had two hits and an RBI against Scranton Prep.

GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL


At Montrose, Katie Lynn had 3 hits including a double and 3 RBI, while Mackenzie Lynn added 2 hits for the unbeaten Carbondale Chargerettes. 

Winning pitcher Brook Ruane struck out 11, and recorded the win against Scranton, 8-2.

COLLEGE BASEBALL

Drew Rossi went 2-2, including a double, & 5 RBI, for Lackawanna College vs. Morris CC

BOYS HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL

Michael Healey is hitting almost .600 - (13-23) for the Tunkhannock JV team. He is also 3-0 on the mound.


 WEEK OF 4/6/2008

GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL

Winning pitcher Taryn Naughton had a triple and Jill Castaldi also tripled to lead Scranton’s offense, in a 3-0 win over Wallenpaupack.

Ashley Dommes drove in two and Alex Perry added two hits for West Scranton as they defeated Nort Pocono, 7-3.

Congratulations to West Scranton's Melissa Brodt on her first varsity base hit against the Dunmore Lady Bucks.


 BOYS HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL

Billy Kelly led the Scranton Knights to their first win of the season while pitching a shut-out victory. Kelly yielded only one hit and struck out five.

Stephen Arcure recorded the win, with 10 strikeouts, & Nolan Harrington collected two hit-(1B & 2B) in a 7-4 win against Abington Heights.

At West Scranton, Max Mueller, who had two hits and three RBIs, including a home run for Scranton. Steve Sunday hit a solo home run for the Invaders.

Steve Mills tossed a complete game 4 hitter striking out 9 as the Abington Heights Comets rolled to 9-1 victory over visiting North Pocono.  Freshman Dan Pisanchyn recorded his first varsity hit in the game.

COLLEGE BASEBALL
Lackawanna College’s freshman infielder Drew Rossi collected his first career collegiate base-hit against Harford Community College, in Belair, Maryland, yesterday. The hit was a bases-loaded, double which accounted for three RBI, in Lackawanna College’s first win of the season.
